Humor and Miracles
Sep 06, 2021Oof.
It’s been a week.
Social distancing. Or quarantining. Or shutting off all human contact FOREVER. Or whatever you want to call it.
Then an earthquake in Utah this morning that practically picked up my house off the ground and relocated it.
Ok. Maybe it wasn’t that bad. . . . it probably wasn’t that bad.
There are a lot of things that seem to be inciting worry, fear, and even panic into the people around us.
At times it’s been easy for me to let that panic breed panic in me. I mean how many containers of oatmeal does a family of four need right now?.....Let’s just say we won’t be needing oatmeal for a while.
Luckily, I have the most amazing husband in the entire universe who gives me the, “Seriously? You’re Going to Lose Your Poop” eyes whenever I start to jump on the “Buy More Water” train.
And he’s had to do that a lot lately.
So when I asked him what to post this week in light of all the things, he said, “Tell them to look for the humor.”
Ugh.
He’s right, you know?
There I said it.
Jake, you’re right.
He reminds me to look for the humor a lot.
He also reminds me to look for the miracles.
Look for the humor. Look for the miracles.
The humor and the miracles are in EVERYTHING.
Yes, everything.
For our family, it’s a miracle that we’re all completely healthy right now, and we have all the supplies we need in case we get sick.
Our family has also been finding the humor in all the Covid-19 memes. I mean, wow! These people are on point with some of this stuff.
And then there was today.
An earthquake on top of a pandemic.
The miracle? Because of the quarantine all of my people were at home and with me. I was the first one there when my babies were scared and crying.
The humor? Well, let’s just say, nothing wakes you up in the morning like thinking you’re going to die of an earthquake. . . . completely naked.
That’s right.
NAKED!
I mean, you wanna see something hilarious? How about a ginormous, naked, pregnant woman running around the house doing roll call?
Finding the humor and the miracles in any situation isn’t always easy, but it is possible. And it makes all the yucky things manageable.
I think my husband is on to something.
Look for the humor. Look for the miracles.
Things always look a little brighter when I do.
